Welcome Back to Colts Football

As you are aware, from 29 th March 2021, grassroots football is now permitted to commence training and matches. It has been a difficult time for us all and we are so happy for the children to now have the opportunity to get back on the pitches and to be able to spend some much-needed time with their team mates. Outlined below are how things will progress for the remainder of the season.

Training

From the week commencing Monday 29th March full training will resume for all age groups. However, some schools are closed over Easter.

Samuel Ryder – completely closed Friday 2nd -Monday 5th

Sandringham school – closed Friday 2nd , Training resumes on Friday 9th

Cotlandswick – closed Friday 2nd & Friday 9 h

Please liaise with your Team manager to find out if they plan alternative venue or day to cover these sessions.

Matches

Matches will resume from 4th April and the WFL have extended the season until the end of May 2021. Some Cup competitions have been postponed ensuring the League program can finish. For the U11-U14, there may be some double header matches with the possibility that there could be one or two mid-week matches.

For those teams that play matches at Samuel Ryder, the grass pitches may have to be used. The EJA League (U15) have extended the season until end of June.

End of season Tournaments

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding two very prestigious tournaments in memory of our friend and former manager Glen Ypey.

U7-U10’s – “The Awesome Foursome Glen Ypey Cup”. This tournament was the idea of our Chairman Paul Ferdinand and was a huge success when played in previous years. The format is 4v4 played inside the cage pitches at Cotlandswick. This has become a Signature tournament, attracting top teams locally including Academy teams from many Pro clubs.“You will all Love it”. Venue; Cotlandswick Leisure centre. Date; Sunday 11 th July 2021.

U11-U15’s – “The Glen Ypey Trophy’. This tournament will be played in the 9 & 11 a-side formats (Relevant to your Age) and will take the form of Champions League style, with Top 2 from each group going into Knock out stages and bottom 2 going into Europa League knock out, so that all teams get plenty of game time and 2 winners.– Venue T/B/A Date; Sunday 4 th July 2021

“FREEDOM PARTY Summer 2021”

After the Lockdowns and frustrations of 2020/21, we will be holding an end of season Summer party at the Irish Club St Albans, in place of our normal presentation. The day will be full of fun, laughter, presentations and hopefully Sun! An opportunity for us to be together and celebrate our freedom and hopefully Club successes. This will include BBQ, sweets& games for the kids and the infamous ‘Dads v Coaches’ match. Where I must add that us coaches are going for a Hat-trick of wins! Date to be announced for July.

Finances & Subscriptions Many of you will want to know what has happened to your subscription fees this season and if will there be any refunds or reduction of fees for next season? As a club, we try our hardest to make the Football as affordable as we possibly can. Whilst we have all missed much of this season, the leagues have extended the season to finish the league campaign and training will resume alongside this. Many of the training facilities, pitches and fees are paid in advance, so we are reliant on other companies and institutions to offer us refunds or discounts, before we can evaluate if we can pass any reduction onto you all. At the end of this season we will Audit the club accounts and if we are able to offer any kind of rebate this will be done in the form of a reduction in next seasons subscription fees, NOT refunds for this season, as many costs are paid in advance. Welcome back to everyone, now let us all enjoy the fun and excitement of watching the kids play footie !
